In 2021 Hipster Whale had a short collaboration with Zeptolab to produce "Downhill Smash" for iOS and Android.
When I joined the project the game was still using placeholder assets for it's UI and my task was to restyle a new art style for the game's UI and HUD as well as produce assets to be used in the game.
My roles included exploring art styles and colour schemes for the game's UI, creating mockups to show how the new UI style and layouts would look across the entire game, and creating assets to be implemented in Unity.
I joined this project early on in my time with Hipster Whale so I still had a lot to learn, still I dove in head first and worked hard to give the game's UI a bright and colourful feel that matched the game's frantic action. Looking back it was a valuable experience that helped improve my skills as a UI and UX designer.
While we had to make some compromises along the way due to time constraints, I am proud of the work we did to produce a fun and eye-catching UI art style for the game.
